Tanya Martinez is a seasoned developer with a deep commitment to energy sovereignty for Tribal Nations/First Nations and advancing clean energy solutions that foster economic opportunity. With over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, she has served in diverse roles—primarily as a project developer and engineering consultant—delivering community-scale and utility-scale energy projects across the U.S., Mexico, and Atlantic Canada, including working for Indigenous Nations.

Her expertise spans multiple technologies, including solar, biomass cogeneration, battery storage, green hydrogen, and wind. As lead developer, Tanya has deployed over 2 GW of energy projects and brings extensive experience in project management, feasibility studies, energy planning, interconnection, securing power purchase agreements, engineering, permitting, easements, project financing, financial modeling, marketing, community engagement, Tribal Nation consultation and stakeholder relations. She is responsible for business strategy, project development, partnerships, and advancing a just energy transition rooted in Mi’kmaq values and self-determination. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Energy Engineering. She is Mi’kmaq (Ugpi’ganjig First Nation) and Puerto Rican.
